LAS VEGAS — June 30, 2014 — Wynn has announced that it will give job preference to hundreds of Suffolk Downs employees if the proposed $1.6 billion Wynn Resort in Everett is granted a Massachusetts gaming license. In addition to jobs, Wynn will also offer a comprehensive training program to Suffolk Down workers who choose to join Wynn.
“Our commitment of jobs to Suffolk Downs workers is further proof that a five-star Wynn Resort in Everett will have the most positive employment and economic impact in the region,” said Robert DeSalvio, senior vice president of development at Wynn. “The training program we are offering racetrack workers is a valuable component. For many, this will be the pathway to a new career.”
The 5-star Wynn Resort in Everett will generate more than 4,000 permanent jobs, 14,300 one- time construction jobs and drive more than $4 billion in revenue to other local businesses over five years—numbers that are significantly higher than any other proposed gaming resort in the state.
