Wynn Everett Buys Christmas Gifts for Families of Veterans

LAS VEGAS (December 22, 2015)—Volunteers from Wynn Everett teamed up with members of Veterans Inc. last week to buy Christmas gifts for 17 children of veterans who live in Everett, Malden, Medford, Chelsea, Somerville, Cambridge and Charlestown. The group shopped at the Target in Everett with a wish-list from each child, with Wynn covering the total cost of the presents.

“I hope the children have as big of a smile opening these gifts as everyone had shopping for them,” said Robert DeSalvio, president of Wynn Everett. “The Wynn Everett team was so proud and honored to give back in a very small way for all these families have given us. Beyond the holidays, I’m committed to see that all the benefits of our $1.7 billion resort, including jobs and business opportunities, are made available to veterans all year long.”

Veteran’s Inc., a Massachusetts based non-profit serving veterans and veteran families, is a national leader in ending homelessness among veterans and has one of the highest rates in the nation—85%—for transitioning veterans out of homelessness. The organization is the largest provider of support services to veterans and their families in New England and has helped more than 60,000 veterans and veteran families in need since 1990.

“The holidays can be a difficult time for veterans in need and their families who are struggling,” said Vincent J. Perrone, President & CEO of Veterans Inc. “Wynn Everett’s act of generosity will go a long way towards brightening up the holidays for veteran families in the area, who will not only enjoy these wonderful gifts, but will know that their community cares deeply for them and they’re not alone during the holidays.”

Site remediation is ongoing at the Wynn Everett site. Construction is expected to begin in early 2016.
