LAS VEGAS (March 6, 2019) — Wynn Resorts has been recognized by Preferred Hotels & Resorts for its longstanding commitment to philanthropy and groundbreaking efforts to improve education programs around the globe.

 

As part of its Great Initiatives for Today’s [Tomorrow’s] Society (GIFTTS) program, Preferred Hotels & Resorts recognizes member hotels that take the meaning of genuine hospitality beyond their front doors by showcasing an outstanding commitment to philanthropy, community, sustainability, and education. Wynn Resorts was recognized as this year’s GIFTTS Awards Education Winner for the inclusive programs Wynn has initiated in communities surrounding Wynn Las Vegas, Encore Boston Harbor and Wynn Macau.

Wynn Resorts has pioneered a new type of corporate partnership with a local Las Vegas elementary school to increase teacher retention rates, repair school infrastructure and increase student attendance. Since 2015, Wynn employees have adopted 50 classrooms each year at Dean Petersen Elementary to provide volunteer hours, essential school supplies and funding.  This investment was vital in helping the school attain a 20% year-over-year growth in students performing at grade level on standardized tests and advance from a one-star to a two-star school within the district.

 

Encore Boston Harbor has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local education centers, and offers career-readiness programs that assist individuals in becoming qualified for positions at the resort. Wynn Macau offers dozens of invaluable scholarships to local students, creating opportunities for educational advancement and long-term success in the workforce.
