Encore Boston Harbor Is New Name For Local Gaming Resort

EVERETT, MA (April 27, 2018) — Wynn Resorts announced today that Encore Boston Harbor will be the new name of its $2.5 billion resort being built along the Mystic River and outer Boston Harbor, in Everett, MA. The announcement was made by Wynn Resorts CEO Matt Maddox at a hearing of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission in Boston.

"More than 25,000 people make up our company, not one person," said Maddox. "There are very few companies who do what we do and the reason we do it better than all else is because of our people. They are the reason we are at the top and we are very focused on doing the right thing. That's what this company is all about."

The decision to change the name to Encore Boston Harbor is the latest of several actions by Wynn Resorts to separate from Steve Wynn. In just over 90 days, the company has enacted the following company-wide initiatives:
  • Steve Wynn has been completely removed from company operations and all of his Wynn stock has been sold.
  • The board has launched an internal investigation, led by a third-party law firm, into the company’s awareness and response to allegations regarding Mr. Wynn.
  • Three new independent board members have been added, all women, bringing our company in the top 40 S&P 500 companies in terms of female board representation.
  • A new department has been formed to focus on gender equality, diversity, fair treatment, and female leadership.
  • New and progressive benefits have been launched including paid parental leave and a “perfect start” bonus for new parents.
  • A review of gender equality in pay, and changes in sexual harassment training with input from third-party experts.
