Cleanup Begins on 33-Acre Site of Future Wynn Everett Resort
Charter Contracting Company, LLC—a Boston-based, minority-owned firm—has been awarded the contract to conduct the initial phase of land cleanup, which will take approximately four months to complete. The multi-phase site remediation will cost an estimated $30 million in total. Wynn will pay the entire cost of the cleanup with no public funds being used.
Headquartered in Boston and founded in 1997, Charter is a land remediation and civil construction company known for its work on high-visibility, complicated projects with multiple stakeholders. The company has consistently received national recognition from Engineering News Record as a Top 200 Environmental Firm.
“After a rigorous pre-qualification and proposal process, Charter is proud to join the Wynn project team as the environmental remediation contractor,” said Robert Delhome, president of Charter. “This complicated clean-up is the first step toward revitalizing this blighted urban parcel into a vibrant and productive space. Remediation of the contaminated site not only improves the environment, but also benefits the region’s economy via Wynn’s use of Charter, which is a local firm. We look forward to meeting and exceeding Wynn’s high standards for safety, quality and
minimal negative impact on the local community.”
GZA, headquartered in Massachusetts, is the Licensed Site Professional for the project. The Commonwealth grants this official and licensed designation to contractors that advise on and oversee remediation efforts.
